Barrie back in Amsterdam

Barrie CadoganYesterday, I’ve seen the concert of Primal Scream in Paradiso, Amsterdam. While I was really looking forward to seeing the band for the first time, the most interesting part of the night for me was to see Barrie Cadogan, the lead singer and guitarist of a three-piece band called Little Barrie.

Barrie now tours with Primal Scream. I saw him and his band a couple of times before in Amsterdam and even ended up backstage with the band. Apart of finishing all the Heineken in the band’s fridge, we left the club with a beermat full of musical tips from Barrie.

I keep the beermat until now, to remind me of that rock’n'roll night. Primal Scream were great last night and Barrie (on the photo) rocked.

A ghost is real (when you listen to Husky Rescue)

After I was introduced to their music by a friend, I somehow kept returning to its cold prettyness (or a warm chillness?) – it did not allow me to stay away for too long. Later on, when the second album came out, I already took a break from work to get the album right at the release date. Their magical, introspective yet sunny and playful music was sending shivers down my spine then and it still does now. The last weekend they showed up in Amsterdam for the very first time and I was lucky to be there: Husky Rescue.

Chris Cornell at his best

Another night, another concert. I was really looking forward to this one: Chris Cornell performing in Melkweg, Amsterdam. When Audioslave failed to support their third album “Revelations” and when Chris Cornell subsequently left the band earlier this year, I was wondering when will I see Cornell performing again. Luckily, the fans and myself didn’t have to wait for too long. A few days before Cornell’s second solo album “Carry On” hit the shops, we had the man back on the stage. And he returned in style!

I admit, I didn’t know their music very well. In fact, I hardly new a song or two from their first album, and got to listen to their new album “Our Earthly Pleasures” just a copule of days before the concert. So I headed to Melkweg on Thursday night as a blank page, as an undercover stranger to mingle amogst the dedicated fans. MaxĂŻmo Park @ Melkweg in Amsterdam.
